Seems that the new Proenza Schouler line at Target is doing well over on Ebay. I’ve often wondered how people do reselling clothing on Ebay. Apparently, if you are fashion minded, you can do well.

Of course, when I visited my Target today I checked out the clothing department to see if they had anything from this clothing line. Sure enough, there were several racks of the clothing, and some of it was even at 50% off. Yikes! If I was more fashion conscious I think I would give this a try - purchasing some of the clothing at 75% off and then placing it on Ebay. I think for now I will just keep checking over on Ebay how Proenza Schouler is selling - which items and for how much. Might just be something I may try in the future.

She says:

Since many people are looking to find work they can do at home, I thought I would highlight some of my own experiences. One thing I have done is medical transcription.Â

As I did not have a medical background, I took a training course at my local community college. It was an 18-month course, was very thorough, and provided the opportunity for networking with professionals who really knew the business. Upon completion of the course, I took and passed the CMT (Certified Medical Transcriptionist) exam, so am now eligible to place the letters CMT after my name

The hardest part is either getting a transcription service to hire you as an independent contractor, or to find clients yourself. I have done both. The benefits of working with a service is that you can simply do the work, without all the hassles of finding clients, including delivering the reports (which is easier now with the capabilities to handle it digitally) and dealing with office staff.  You will probably make more money by getting your own clients. However, the deadlines involved can be a bit stressful. Offices expect quicker and quicker turnaround times. I used to transcribe for one doctor’s office where he would see 30 to 40 patients a day, but only dictate his notes one day a week. Of course, the office manager (his wife) wanted the dictation turned around in 24 hours’ time because “that’s what everyone else can do”.Â

If you are just starting out, try to connect with a local transcription service to take on any overflow work. Get business cards and hand them out to everyone you know. The networking aspect is vital to maintaining business.Â

So people usually ask “how much money can you make?” The answer is “well it depends”. When I had my own service I could bring in several thousand dollars a month working part time. I did work for a larger local transcription service and could make a couple of hundred dollars per week working part time.Â

Â
