Welcome to my blog!
Hi, I’m Dana, otherwise known as “Mrs. Not Made of Money”. Along with my husband, “Mr. Not Made of Money”, I started this blog way back in 2006 as a way of keeping myself focused on our family’s financial goals. I’m a SAHM to 4 wonderful kids and one adorable puppy, and I am very thankful that my husband and I have found ways to keep ourselves out of debt all while living on one income and raising a family. While it hasn’t always been an easy journey, it’s one that I have no regrets about.
I came up with the blog title one day when one of the kids asked for something outrageously expensive…I don’t even remember the exact item but it was probably something that every kid wants at some time ~ like a real pony or the newest gaming system or something like that. Well, you can probably guess what my response was, “I’m sorry but I’m not made of money!” LOL. The blog was born.
So what goes on here on Not Made of Money? Well, I share tips to save money and stretch the family budget. I share recipes, deals, coupons, time saving strategies, personal finance thoughts, and I run giveaways and write product reviews. I share what things have worked for us, and what life lessons we have learned regarding money and finances. I’m a huge fan of clearance sales (love you Target!), garage sales, BOGO deals, Diet Coke, online shopping, and hockey. Random, I know. I’d like to think I’m a pretty good stretcher of the family budget but I know that I can always do better. I’ve also learned that the best budgets are the ones that are flexible. I post several times per week here on the blog. I’m active on Twitter and I enjoy pinning my latest finds onto my Pinterest boards.
Oh, and one more thing. Since I do talk about financial topics from time to time, I have to add the following disclaimer: Neither my husband or I are financial planners or advisers and we do not represent ourselves as such. This blog is strictly for entertainment purposes and is a look at our own personal viewpoints on money and finances. If you need help with your finances, then by all means contact a licensed financial professional.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you around the blog!
Have a great day!
