With the weather beginning to warm up I’ve been feeling the urge to do some spring cleaning. This past weekend as I was making my way through one area of the garage and I was surprised how much stuff had gathered since the last time I cleaned. At first I was going to simply make a donate pile and call Salvation Army to come by and pick up the stuff but after taking a second look, I realized that I had quite a few items that I could sell for a little extra cash which could help fund our upcoming Summer vacation.
A Bagful of Gymboree Clothes
Last Summer when I was cleaning out the kid’s closets I’d found a large amount of Gymboree clothes that my youngest two children had outgrown. At that time I had prepared the clothes by washing them, organizing them into sale lots, and had them ready to be placed for sale on Ebay but somehow I’d forgotten to actually list them – oops! At least the majority of the work is done so I only need to write up the clothing descriptions and get the auctions actually up and running. Since these are Summer clothes, it will probably work to my advantage anyway, since that’s what most people are shopping for now.
Some Old Cell Phones
I’d forgotten that we upgraded cell phones late last year and I had tossed the old phones into a storage bin in the garage. I’m now planning on selling those phones to make a few extra bucks. I had no idea where to sell an iphone but after looking around online, I see that there are quite a few places who will now give you cash for your old cell phone. I’ve even noticed a few places accepting cell phone donations for fundraisers, and I think everyone would agree that recycling a cell phone is a much better alternative than just throwing it in the trash or just letting it collect dust in the garage.
Old Video Games
My kids have outgrown a few of the video games they’d been playing. I’m going to be listing those for sale on Ebay as well. In the past, similar type video games have sold extremely well. I always keep the original boxes so that when they are resold we can get the most amount of money for them. Every video game I have ever listed for sale on eBay has sold really quickly.
Miscellaneous Household Appliances and Electronics
We’re going to be participating in our neighborhood’s annual community garage sale next month, so I’ve set aside some household appliances that I no longer use (i.e. a skillet, waffle maker, and other similar odds and ends). I also found a shower radio, old “boom box” and tape recorder we no longer use so I will be adding those items to the list. I’ve found these types of items sell really well at yard sales and I can make more money off them selling them this way rather than eBay or Craigslist.
Are you planning on doing any spring cleaning soon?
