Some of my favorite gifts to give are gifts that I’ve made myself. Nothing shows my friends or family members how much I love them like giving them a treasure that I’ve created myself. They say that they even look forward to seeing what I’ll come up with from year to year.
Now, I know what some of you may be thinking. Maybe you’re not “crafty,” and you don’t think you can make your own gifts. That’s just not true, though; there are plenty of gift ideas that don’t take any special skills. With a little time you can create one-of-a-kind, gifts ideas that everyone will love.
Baby Blankets – Baby blankets are so small that even the most inexperienced sewer can pull one together. A few scraps of coordinated fabric can be cut into small squares and sewn together in a basic block pattern. If you can’t sew, you can even make one out of fleece by tying the different pieces together.
Spa Gift Sets – What gal wouldn’t appreciate a day at the spa? Most of us can’t afford to really go to a spa, but you can give the home version of the spa experience. Epsom salts, almond oil, and some fragrance oil combine easily to make bath salts. Pour them into a pretty jar, pair with a bath mitt, and present to a gal who needs a little more relaxation.
Food Gifts – In this hurried world not everyone has the time to bake special treats. If you’re gifted with the ability to cook well, why not present your friends with a plate of their favorite cookies. Even if you don’t enjoy cooking, you can always make some simple treats. Melted chocolate poured over tiny pretzels and packaged in a tiny tin make a great gift.
Christmas Ornaments – Do you need to make several gifts in a hurry? Handmade Christmas ornaments are easy to make. You can even involve the kids to make gifts for the grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Inexpensive glass ornaments simply scream for customization. You can pour two or three colors of paint into the ornament, swirl it around, and allow it to dry to create a pretty effect. Alternatively, you could stencil gold or several embellishments onto the outer surface. Tie a pretty bow around the ornament and it’s ready to go.

Very similar to something I recently wrote about.
Giving gifts from the heart rather than gifts from the wallet make for longer lasting memories
This year i have hadmade all our gifts from bath frizz, bath salts to cookies for family, friends and even for our extended families. We are also not spending any money on wrapping papers. Not only we save lots of money but also the gifts are more unique.
Thanks for sharing
That is an awesome idea… I am totally going to try it.
