I love the jar idea! I could even find jars at thrift stores for like 50 cents and decorate my apartment better with all my crap. I do use shoe boxes, they are very handy to keep letters.

I would keep the expenditures on home organization to a minimum. Why buy more stuff to organize the stuff you have?

To me, that just encourages you to keep it longer.

When I got organized, I bought one small filing cabinet for my bills, paperwork, etc.

Then I started a system for my “stuff”. I go thru every closet in the house every 4-6 months. If it hasn’t been used since the last time I went thru it (besdies seasonal items) then it goes to Goodwill.

Shoe boxes are awesome! I never throw them away when I buy new shoes or boots. They are perfect for storing just about anything!

If you simply must buy some things to organize your home, the dollar store is a great place to look. They have baskets and containers galore!
