September Best Buys

Shopping for bargains doesn’t know an off-season, does it? It seems like there is always a good buy out there, and September is no exception. Although we won’t be taking advantage of all of these sales and price dips, I thought I would share some of the great buys I’ve noticed this month.

Holiday Airfares – Although traveling during a peak travel season is always expensive, now is the best time to make your travel arrangements. November and December airfares will never be cheaper than they are during September. If you know exactly what dates you will be traveling, start checking out your favorite airline’s offers now.

Appliances – If your oven is showing signs that it’s about to breathe its last breath, try to encourage it to hang in there for just a little while longer. New models typically hit the showroom floors during September or October. The arrival of those newest models requires dealers to start slashing prices on the old models to get them out of their storerooms. September will be a great time to buy a new appliance.

Fall Plants – If you love plants, don’t feel like the coming of Fall means you have to stop gardening. Hardy plants like mums are offered at lots of places at great prices during September. I love the extra punch of color that a few potted mums ads to my front porch.

Grills and Lawn Mowers – These proverbial signs of summer should be on their ways out of stores by late September. Look for them to be placed at clearance prices. If you’ve been in the market for either piece of equipment, be sure to keep tabs on their prices and be ready to act when they reach your goal price.

Cars – It feels a little redundant to mention cars after all of the hype from last month’s Cash for Clunkers promotion, but typically the current year’s car models are much cheaper in September than they are in, say, March. If September finds you in the market for a new car, now is the time to make that purchase. Like the appliances mentioned above, new car models start arriving at dealer show rooms in September making it much more important for dealers to get the old models out of their inventories.

Great post but I think the most important piece to it is that…there are ALWAYS good deals out there. The more I research my purchases before going thru with them, the more that I am convinved that you should NEVER pay full price for anything!

Unless its an emergency and you need something right away, do your research, wait a little, and usually, you can find yourself a fantastic deal. It’s all out there just waiting to be discovered.
