Are you ready to decorate your home for Fall? I know that I am, but I am a little biased. Warm colors like orange, red and sage green are my favorites, so bringing them into my home’s décor is always a welcome change.
You don’t have to spend a lot of money to turn your house into an autumn-themed oasis. A few quick changes are all you need to introduce this latest season into almost every room of your house. Our decorations aren’t over the top; they don’t scream Halloween or Thanksgiving. They do, however, reflect the current season.
A trip to the grocery store will take you a long way towards getting your house decorated for the Fall months. For a few dollars you can add stylish touches to rooms all over your house. Don’t believe me? Look at the ways I’ve used it around my home:
Front Porch – Fall decorating is easy when you have a pumpkin or two. What symbolizes Fall more than these orange beauties? We set a couple of large ones on our porch steps to add a splash of color. If orange isn’t your favorite color, you could always opt to use white pumpkins. As Halloween approaches, you can even cut fun designs into them if you like.
Kitchen – I don’t like too much decoration in my kitchen. There’s a lot going on in that room, and I don’t have a lot of space to spare. Fortunately, my Fall decorations don’t require a lot of attention or care. I simply place a selection of gourds in warm yellows and greens into a wire basket. It’s placed prominently in the center of our kitchen island for display (and incorporation into a meal or two).
Living Room – Bringing a Fall atmosphere into our house is easy. For starters, a dish of candy corn makes it home in the middle of our coffee table. Then, I display a wreath crafted from Indian corn (maize) in the wreath holder over our fireplace. The wreath adds a subtle touch of color that coordinates nicely with the rest of our home’s year-round décor.

We don’t do much decorating around the house at any time in the year. We are fortunate that we live in an area with seasons and in a house surrounded by nature. When we look out of the window, we will soon see the beautiful colors of fall. So, we don’t see much need to decorate the house, which obviously saves us a bit of money.
I have learned that there are one of two ways to decorate your house for fall, specifically Halloween.
One, go to the party store and spend a million dollars on a bunch of decorations that will be up for a few weeks, tops, and then taken down.
Two, go to a discount store and pick up paper and markers and everything else needed to make homemade cut-out decorations. It’s fun, you can involve the kids, and it is a fraction of the cost.
Guess which one I’ll be doing this year?
