Don't forget to start early! And I mean 2-4 weeks early depending on how much stuff you have to get rid of. That way you can space out your preparation and pricing so you aren't stressing yourself out and up at 2:00 a.m. the night before pricing your stuff!

Garage sales in and of themsleves can be successful--if, however, you are willing to deal with all of the people that will ask you if you will take 25 cents for a perfectly good shirt that you have priced for 50 cents. This aspect of them drove me nuts.

Some tips, though: I found that advertising in the newspaper was a waste of money--you will get much more activity from simple signs in your neighborhood or at the end of the road.

"Free" refreshements would work better--these garage salers never seem to want to spend much money as it is anyways.

Put anything out that you can think of--you would be shocked at what people are willing to pay money for or have an interest in....seriously!!!
