The Best Bargains for the Month of June

June 8th, 2009 · 1 Comment

If you’re out shopping for bargains, June’s offering of sales offers and locations could provide you with everything you need. As you all know, I love finding a good bargain. There are always bargains to be found somewhere. Do you know where to look for them in June?

One great opportunity for bargains is the plethora of garage sales and yard sales that are scattered throughout neighborhoods during June. Whether you’re looking for small items like clothing or lamps or hunting for a new piece of furniture, you can bet that you’ll find something worthwhile among your neighbors’ slightly-used items. Pay special attention to group sales like church sales or multi-family sales. With more people contributing to the sale’s inventory, the odds that you will find what you’re looking for are increased.

Another stereotypical June bargain is summer clothing. Since summer clothes hit the stores in March or April, sales prices start appearing in May. By the time June arrives, those clothes are starting to make their way to the stores’ clearance racks. If you can hold out until late June to buy new shorts and t-shirts you are certain to get them at rock-bottom prices. Cheap flip-flops for the kids can be found for a dollar or two at many different retailers. Swimsuits are also on sale in June.

Swimming supplies and accessories are usually sold during June, as well. Again, you’ll get a better price if you can hold out until the latter part of the month. Nonetheless, even in early June, you’ll find acceptable prices for pool items like maintenance chemicals, pool toys, and cleaning tools. Discount retailers like Wal-mart start stocking these supplies during the summer so you can take advantage of their low pricing strategies.

Finally, foods that are typically used for grilling or cookouts are usually on sale during the month of June. Stock up now on hot dogs, chips, and soda. When steaks and ground beef make an appearance in your grocery store’s ads, be prepared to buy more than you need and store in your freezer for future use.

June is not my favourite time to find bargains as it’s a tourist season and not many places run discounts. Even my stock broker is not doing any promotions nowadays.
Streets of London are crowded with tourist and retailers are not eager to slash prices, at least during this time.
