I think your idea for group gifts is a great alternative, especially in today’s economy. A relative of mine has a bridal registry but all of the items are way beyond my budget. I just purchased lingerie from stillhope-lingerie.com as a bridal gift. I know it’s unorthodox but so is my budget.

Only a non-quilter would recommend a quilt as an inexpensive wedding present. Making a quilt takes a lot of both time and money but is a wonderful gift.

I always stick to the registry- but get to it early before all the good and cheap gifts are already taken!
