Inexpensive Graduation Gift Ideas

April 7th, 2009 · 5 Comments

Graduation season is quickly approaching. I always find myself getting a little nostalgic this time of year as I remember my own graduation from college. My friends and I were all so excited about what life was going to hold for us. I usually find myself reaching out to my old college friends and catching up on what the year has held for all of us.

If you know anyone who has a graduation coming, I’m sure you’re seeing that same kind of excitement coming from them. Although you’re on a budget, it’s only natural that you want to celebrate their special occasion by getting them a gift. This is where a well-considered gift comes into play. Check out these great graduation gift ideas for those of us who are frugally minded:

Alumni Memorabilia – My absolute favorite graduation gift was the alumni sticker one of my friends gave me from our university. As soon graduation was over, I was proud to display this little piece of memorabilia on my car. I’ve had a few cars since then, but I always make sure I move my alumni sticker to my new car.

Laptop Accessory Kit – In a society where people are constantly on the go, the bulk desktop computers we used when I was in school are definitely old hat. Now, people want the convenience of a laptop computer. There are a few things I miss about my desktop computer, though. A laptop accessory kit will include a mouse, a ten-key pad, headphones, and an assortment of other accessories. Your graduate will enjoy all of the convenience of the laptop, as well as the functionality of a desktop computer.

Alarm Clock – The last thing your graduate needs is to be late to his first day on his new grown-up job. Help him get off on the right foot by purchasing an alarm clock for him. You can choose from many different types of clock from sleek, high tech models to quirky, whimsical ones. Just pick one that suits your graduate’s personality.

Photo Album – Your graduate will want to remember his college years forever. Having a home for the many pictures he’s accumulated during his school years will make that much easier. Graduates who are boys might prefer a handsome, leather bound album. Gals might prefer a more embellished album. In either case, you can be sure that your gift will be enjoyed for many years.

I have received photo albums for gifts and really liked them! They were very useful. The one thing that I think is the worst gift is the pen! Think of something original!

I am making picture frames for my two female roommates. I am decorating the frames with clippings from local restuarants, bars, hot spots etc that will remind us of our time in this town.
