One of my favorite things to make at home is homemade pizza. I’ve been making this recipe for years now.
Pizza Dough Ingredients:
1 cup warm water
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
2-1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
Dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Add the remaining ingredients and let dough form into a ball. Let rest for 5 minutes. Knead the dough until it is smooth. Place on a round cookie sheet or pizza stone and pat the dough into an 11 inch circle.
Pizza Sauce Ingredients:
1 cup of tomato sauce
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp basil
1 tsp sugar
Combine all ingredients over low heat for 5 minutes.
Pizza Topping:
1-1/2 cups mozzarella cheese
Putting It All Together:
Spread the tomato sauce mixture within 1/2 inch of the edge of the dough circle. Follow with shredded mozzarella cheese. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.
Tip: The pizza dough freezes really well. I make extra dough when I have time, and then pop it in the freezer. I let it thaw out overnight and it’s ready to go the next day when I want to make a pizza!

I always had a problem with my pizza dough being a little flat…. but recently I tired using maida flour (Indian all purpose flour) and the bread was unbelievable fluffy and perfect for pizza… it’s a little more expensive… I paid around $2 for about 8 cups, i think.
I really struggle with not killing the yeast. What’s your secret?
