Well I finally took the plunge and signed up for a CVS card. If you haven’t heard, CVS offers a type of “reward card” where you receive credit in the form of “extra bucks” for certain weekly purchases. I’ve been reading for a long time now how different bloggers have scored really great deals using a method of combining CVS extra bucks with sale items and manufacturer coupons. Signing up for the card was easy and just required I fill out a form. I was given the card immediately and it was used on my first purchase. I bought 3 Hallmark cards and each one was 99 cents. Then, when my receipts printed out it showed that I had earned 3 extra bucks towards a future purchase. Basically then, the greeting cards were free! I regret that I didn’t purchase more cards as they wound up being cheaper than the ones I get from the dollar store. Anyway, I’m planning to review the strategy for this week at CVS and I’ll blog about it in the next few days.
This past week we participted in the Carnival of Personal Finance #188 hosted at Pecuniarities and the Festival of Frugality #161 hosted at MoneyNing.
