I’ve recently begun coupon stockpiling, after I discovered how much money I can save by combining sales with coupons. We receive the Sunday newspaper which contains the coupon flyers so in the past I’ve only had one coupon to use for each item I would find on sale. However, to really maximize savings, I needed to have multiple coupons for the items I wanted to purchase. So a month ago I started purchasing 5 newspapers on Sunday just so I would have the coupon inserts. The paper here costs $1.50 on Sunday but I found that my local Albertson’s sells the Sunday newspaper for $1 so that is where I go every Sunday to purchase my newspapers. Nearly every week I am asked by the sales clerk “What in the world are you buying 5 newspapers for?”. They are always amazed when I tell them how much money I save by getting multiple copies of the coupons and combining them with sales.
Another place I get coupons from is the Super Target website. They have store coupons and so I just print out the list and can make as many copies as I like. I have been able to combine Target clearance or sale prices with the Super Target coupons and manufacturer coupons to score some really great deals.
I am using several web sites to help me find the current deals which combine store sales with coupons – Coupon Mom is a free site and gives a weekly store sale list and which coupons to use. The Grocery Game does the same thing but charges a small fee. However, I don’t subscribe to the weekly deals list but I do visit the message boards and have found them to be invaluable, especially with the sales and bargains at Target. I also like to visit Taylortown Coupon Preview which shows what coupons will be in the Sunday paper. I will be posting some examples in the days to come of special deals I have found using this coupon stockpiling method.

Great post. A good way to stock up on those coupons and very convenient.

This is a really good tactic that we use too. I especially love the coupons with a longer expiration date so that your odds of combining it with a sale are more likely.
