I went shopping the other day and purchased an item that was supposed to be on sale. However, when I looked at the receipt, I noticed that I had been charged the full price. I was fortunate that I hadn’t left the store yet so I just returned to the cashier and pointed out the error and she corrected it. Usually I try to watch the items as they are scanned to be sure I get the sale price, but on this particular day I was distracted (had the kids with me).
I’ve made it a point to always check my receipt before leaving the store. It is so much easier to get the problem resolved right away, rather then having to return at a later time to try to get it fixed. In the past I’ve found items that were rung up twice, items I was charged for that I didn’t purchase, sale prices that were not reflected, coupons that were not deducted correctly, and clearance prices that were not adjusted. It really does pay to take a few extra minutes before leaving the store to check the receipt.
