Money Saving Tips – 02/03/2007

February 3rd, 2007 · No Comments

Since I’ll be doing my weekly grocery shopping today, I thought I would highlight a few saving tips from the grocery store:

Watch out for the price of convenience foods.  For example, don’t buy pre-marinated meats.  Instead purchase the meat separately and add the marinade yourself.  Buy a head of lettuce and do the salad prep yourself.

Look for food items that are on sale or being clearanced out.  The bakery will usually have several baked goods that will be expiring in the next day or so and those will be discounted.

Look for coupon books at the front of the store as well as down each aisle (you know the ones, the little coupon machines that spit out the coupons one at a time.)

If you shop at Wal-Mart, remember to inquire about price matching.  I’ve not tried this myself, but I have read that you can just bring in the sale ads from other grocery stores and Wal-Mart will match the price.
