Planning For Next Christmas - Making My Inventory List
By Dana Joseph
Now that the holidays are gone, I write up a list of holiday items that I have and what items I need (or want) for next Christmas. I go through to see if I have enough gift wrap, bows, gift bags, tags, etc. and write down quantities on hand and how much I estimate I will need for next year. I do the same for holiday decorations including ornaments, lights, tablecloths, advent candles, wreaths, etc. I also write down where these items are stored. Some items are stored in the attic such as the gift wrap, bows, and bags. But the more fragile items like the candles and wreaths we store in our closet.Â
I make notes about shopping which includes when Target went to 30% off, 50% off, and 75% off.  I also like to make a note of when the local dollar store began to get in their Christmas merchandise, so I can be on the look out for bargains there as well.
Finally, I write down dates I would like to have my Christmas cards sent out and when to get the Christmas photos taken. Â
After my list is completed,  I staple it to the back of my calender for the month of August. That way I have a handy reference for next year and I don’t wind up buying items that I already have (either because I’ve forgotten them or I can’t find where I stored them).
