Inexpensive Valentine Gifts From Christmas Clearance

December 31st, 2006 · 3 Comments

I know Valentine’s Day is a while away, but you can purchase items from the Chrismas clearance now at Target that can be used for Valentine’s Day Gifts.  Here are some ideas to get you started:

1.  Look for the clearance priced candy such as plain chocolates and anything that might not be decorated with a Christmas theme.  I found Dove chocolates and Ghirardelli chocolates at 50% clearance at Target.  These items can be placed into a plain glass jar or combined into a gift basket.

2.  Search for plain red candies, red candles, red bows and ribbons.  You can use these items to decorate.

3.  Look for plain red gift wrap or red gift bags which can be used to wrap or hold Valentine’s Day gifts.

4.  There are many scented candles on clearance now.  Check the regular candle aisles of Target to hunt for those red clearance stickers.

5.  If you are giving a Valentine gift for a child, be sure to check out the toy clearance aisles.  There are many toys that are currently being clearanced from 30% to 50% off.  Some of these will even be further discounted to 75% off.

Here’s another idea for the boxes of Candy canes that eventually clearance down to as little as a dime a box. Use a glue gun to hot glue two candy canes into a heart shape. These make nice classroom treats. You can also use the tiny candy canes to decorate cupcakes with hearts. They even make a cute picture frame for an ornament for next year’s tree. (The shrink wrapped ones can keep as decoration for years)
