I’ve written before that there are many things we do during the Christmas season including minimalizing commercialism.  We have loads of fun with handmade christmas ornaments.   We take nightly drives to look at outdoor Christmas lights. We also enjoy making Christmas cookies for ourselves and to give as Christmas gifts. These are fun family traditions that do not involve spending lots of money.Â
This Sunday is the beginning of Advent and we have an online Advent screensaver that the kids just love. Each day features a new scene of the Christmas story.Â

On our evening expeditions to look at lights, it has become our tradition to go on a nativity hunt (there aren’t very many). The person who spots the most nativities on display each year wins! My eldest son, Ditto, usually takes the prize on this one.
