Have you seen those ads for some of the computer stores? They will show a really low price for a particular computer and then underneath the ad in smaller print will be the real price with several rebates. Some of these rebates will be “in-store” which means it will be deducted immediately off the price you pay. Other rebates will need to be “mailed in” which means you will pay the money up front, with the hopes of receiving money back in the mail.Â
We’ve used these types of rebates and many times have received the money back as promised. However, due to a couple of recent “rebate fiascos” we’ve decided to be very careful when making a purchase which involves a rebate, as we’ve gotten burned in the past. Apparently, we are not the only ones. Rebate Roulette has some good information regarding rebates.Â
