Not Made Of Money

One way to save money is on your cable or satelite provider.  Why pay all that money for channels you never use?  How many times have you said, all these channels and there is nothing on.  We have said this many times.

We have a satelite dish from Dish Network.  We have the top 120 channels programming that comes with music channels, other channels that they throw in and we also pay extra for all the local channels.  I found that we have 161 channels.  Of which, there is never anything on to watch or at least not worth watching.  I figured that we watch maybe 32 channels sometimes but only 23 channels do we watch with regularity.  So, what to do?

Dish Network has many different types of programming options.  I think that you should be able to pick and choose which channels you want and pay only for what you want.  But unfortunately, the cable companies and the satellite companies do not see it that way.  That’s for another post.  Back to where I was,  we could go down to the Top 60 or there is a new option called DishFamily.  We are going with this one and we will save half.  That is right we will be paying half of what we were paying by changing to the DishFamily.  Yes we will be losing some channels, but the payoff is worth it.

Now once you are saving the money, do not go out and spend it.  At the end of each month, take that money that you have saved and put it into your cash reserve fund and compound your savings by making money on your money.  Remember some of the Money Market Funds are paying more than 5%.
